While (current) Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragachi acknowledges that his regime is “in contact” with the US, he maintains, “this is not a negotiation.” Everything’s a negotiation, and we suspect that Mr. Araghchi knows that.

Before hearing more from the Regime’s Trembling Remnant (RTR), let’s examine the crux of the remarks delivered by the President this week to the American people.

“Tonight, I want to provide an update on the tremendous progress our warriors have made in Iran… Their navy is gone, their air force is gone. We’ve done all of it… I’ve made clear from the beginning of Operation Epic Fury that we will continue until our objectives are fully achieved. Thanks to the progress we’ve made, I can say tonight that we are on track to complete all of America’s military objectives shortly. Very shortly, we are going to hit them extremely hard over the next two to three weeks.”

— President Trump, Primetime Address to the Nation (April 1, 2026)

So, ya, from the American, Israeli and rest of the (sane) free world perspective, things are going well. Moreover, commonsense indications are that the President has some final decisions to make, but overall, the operation’s objectives will be achieved at some point this summer.

What about the Regime Change?

They’ll fall in line or we’ll just gig ’em.

First, it’s worth noting, the Trump administration put out a fairly convincing fact sheet with quotes from senior administration officials laying out what the goals of the operation are, and the consistency with which they’ve been stated.

Regime change must come from the Iranian people. That has been CUFI’s consistent position from the beginning, long before this current effort.

Now, back to the regime. Well, consider the following:

1.     Shortly after the New Year, President Trump ordered a successful American special forces operation - that it is believed to have involved 12-24 operators from America’s famed Delta Force – to cleanly capture Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro,

2.     The US has stationed hundreds of special operators and thousands of top tier Marine and infantry warriors in the neighborhood.

3.     The armada President Trump has built in the region has laid to waste more than 12,000 targets in Iran.

4.     A common axiom of combat is that it is easier to eliminate a target than capture him.

Now consider those facts not as you sit and read this in the comfort of your home or office. Rather consider them as must the Foreign Minister of Iran: you’ve been an important – but clearly replaceable – part of a violent group of thugs. The average person on the street has a legitimate vendetta against you for what you’ve done to their country, people, community, and/or family.

And every single day the President of the United States is threatening to hit key elements of your power supply – potentially plunging your capital into darkness.

That’s how it happened for Maduro, first they killed the lights, Mr. Araghchi – oh, and is that your final answer on whether we’re negotiating?

The Regime has Changed.

They no longer hold all the cards anyone is willing to use.

The truth is that for decades they controlled the rules, the pace of events, and the outcome. They felt nearly invincible. But that wasn’t the case.

“The Americans/Israelis would never” was their true final prayer of each night. Now most of them are dead, and the rest are hiding in Iran’s version of Saddam’s rathole.

The media narrative around this conflict and the near universal near jerk opposition to it ignores the very things about President Trump his own detractors seem to abhor. Because by any objective standard, operations Epic Fury and Roaring Lion have achieved unprecedented gains. If he hasn’t already, Trump is going to win this battle.

Like it or not, sometimes one must believe what’s right in front of them: Trump’s going to do what he set out to do in Iran (nuclear, missiles, international malign activities).

The Iranian menace is nearing its end. And some things are simply true; the arc of history bends towards justice and the tide rolls on.

Sincerely,

The CUFI Action Fund
