Last Friday, President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu gave the green light to launch Operations Epic Fury and Roaring Lion. The attacks produced immediate widespread success, including the elimination of the Supreme Leader of Iran, the Defense Minister, and numerous other regime officials. In this week’s Action Update we answer three questions about the war.

Why Did the United States Launch this Attack?

The volume of terror attacks conducted by Iran and it’s proxies, going all the way back to the first day the Mullahs took power is far too long to list here. Below please find a simple list of…

The Top 10 Reasons this War is Justified:

1.        In 1979 when the regime took power, they took over the U.S. Embassy, holding 52 Americans hostage for more than 400 days.

2.        In 1983, the regime’s preeminent terrorist proxy Hezbollah, on Iranian orders, bombed the U.S. Embassy in Beirut, killing 17 Americans. Months later Hezbollah bombed the American barracks in Beirut killing 241 Americans.

3.        In 1996, Iran-backed terrorists bombed the Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia killing 19 Americans.

4.        In the summer of 2002, Iran-backed Hamas terrorists bombed the Hebrew University of Jerusalem killing 5 Americans, and in 2003, a bus in Jerusalem, killing 5 Americans.

5.        Throughout the 2003-2011 Iraq war, the Department of Defense concluded that Iranian-backed terrorists killed 603 American servicemembers.

6.        In 2011, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) planned to assassinate the Saudi Ambassador in Washington, D.C. at a Georgetown restaurant. The assassination plot was foiled.

7.        In 2020, an Iranian ballistic missile targeting Ain al-Asad airbase caused more than 100 U.S. servicemembers to suffer traumatic brain injuries.

8.        In 2022, the IRGC murdered an American civilian working at an English language institute in cold blood.

9.        From 2020 – 2022 multiple Iran-backed assassination plots targeting President Trump and others, were foiled.

10.  On October 7th, 2023, Iran-backed Hamas terrorists invaded southern Israel. Among the 1,200 brutally murdered were 48 Americans.

Go ahead, Mr. Carlson, look in the eyes of the families of all those Americans listed above, and tell them they don’t deserve justice. And then, consider what happens when a regime capable of the above, decides to go nuclear.

What is happening in the rest of the Middle East?

Despite the fact that countries like Qatar support terrorism and have made nice with Iran from time to time, Iran has thrown the military equivalent of a temper tantrum, and people are dying as a result. Beyond its horrific assaults on Israel, Iran has attacked no less than thirteen countries with missiles, drones, and/or rockets.

Thus far, 11 people have been killed and hundreds more wounded in Israel, which along with the UAE has suffered the bulk of Iran’s offensive barrages. At least a dozen others, including 6 members of the U.S. Armed Forces serving in Kuwait have been killed across the region.

Despite the “Arab-Israeli Conflict,” Iran has attacked more Arab/Islamic countries in a matter of days, than Israel has in any of the wars it has fought. Turns out, the Islamic theocratic state, not the Jewish democratic state, is the real threat to Arabia and beyond.

All of this noted, the rate of Iranian fire has decreased, and Israel believes it has hit a majority of the regime’s relevant missile launchers. The U.S. and Israel’s combined military abilities cannot be withstood by any nation on earth.

So, you might find it surprising that Hezbollah has decided to enter the fray. But they have, and they will end being eviscerated because of it. Presently, Israel has launched numerous air attacks in Lebanon against the terrorist group, and, according to reports, taken up at least one position on the southern part of the country. Even the Lebanese Armed Forces claim to be disarming Hezbollah now (since we’ve heard that before, we’re going to go ahead and trust the Israelis on this one).

Bottom line: The U.S. and Israel are defeating an enemy that has been trying to kill us both for nearly half a century.

Could This Impact the Homefront?

Let’s be frank, the answer to this question must be yes. For those old enough to remember where they were on 9/11, the question doesn’t even have to be asked. But let’s put aside the rhetoric—  here’s the tachlis: since 2023 at least 8 people have been indicted in the U.S. for Iran/Hezbollah linked terror charges. Charges in some of the cases discuss material support for terrorism and murder-for-hire plots right here in the U.S.

The U.S. government is taking this seriously - including activating Joint Terrorism Task Forces across the country. Following confirmation of the death of the Ayatollah, a threat assessment from the Office of Intelligence and Analysis at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) determined, "Although a large-scale physical attack is unlikely, Iran and its proxies probably pose a persistent threat of targeted attacks in the Homeland, and will almost certainly escalate retaliatory actions — or calls to action.”

And, of course, we’ve already seen one Iran-inspired attack in Austin, TX, where the gunman killed 3 people and wounded 13 others.

It is better to decide when to go to war, than to allow one’s enemies to do so. It is imperative that one listen to their enemies, especially when they promise to kill you – day in, day out, for nearly 50 years. This war is righteous, necessary, and Just.
